His stop off in the UK at the end of 2014 was a triumphant affair, packing out venues and playing mammoth sets of over 20 songs. He is a new rising star for the rap world to support.īrian Todd Collins, or more notably Kid Ink has been taking the US hip hop scene by storm after charting well with his first two albums and hitting the billboard top 100 with a handful of singles. However it's hard to deny a talent like Kid Ink. Rap fans are usually quite skeptical of welcoming new talent to the stage as there are already so many great artists in the game. I enjoyed the show so much, I purchased tickets for his London show in October! It was obviously hit singles like "Show Me" and "Main Chick" that the crowd went crazy for, but album material such as "The Movement" showcased Kid Ink's talent the best. Just as I had imagined by watching performances online, he had a great stage presence and the energy in the room never slumped throughout the entire set. Kid Ink fans had been eagerly awaiting the announcement of a tour, so when this finally happened it really was an exciting moment. With his lyrical skill and polished performances, he has proved that he is worthy of his place alongside some of the best rappers today. One of the newest rappers taking the scene by storm.Ĭollaborations with Chris Brown and Aloe Blacc have helped bring him into the mainstream, and rightly so. With greats like Jay-Z and Kanye, continuing to dominate the scene, you can imagine that the rapping game is both difficult and daunting for new artists to break into.Įnter Brian Collins.
KID INK ALBUMS LIST CRACKED
He’s wasted no time in dropping two full-lengths already, with last year’s “Already Home” followed up by “My Own Lane” in January 2014 the latter cracked the top three in the U.S., and spawned the smash singles “Show Me” and “Iz U Down”.
He released two more mixtapes that same year - “Daydreamer” and “Wheels Up” - that were enough to guarantee him not only a spot on hip hop website XXL’s Freshman class feature for 2012, but also ultimately a record deal with RCA. He followed that up with “Crash Landing” in 2011, and this time he was able to call upon an impressive range of collaborators, including Ray J and Meek Mill. Up until the age of twenty-two - which many would consider late to arrive in the rap game - he focused on duties behind the desk, only releasing his first mixtape, “World Tour”, in 2009, under the name Rockstar. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Kid Ink didn’t actually necessarily grow up with dreams of being a rapper instead, he was far more interested in becoming involved with the production side of things, with the likes of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland being counted amongst his heroes - their diversity, he said, was both inspiring and eye-opening for him.
